International Conference Held at the Academic Library of ENU
On August 15, 2025, the Academic Library of the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University hosted an international conference on the topic “Inclusive Digital Literacy for All: Uniting Communities for a Common Future”, organized by the IFLA Information Literacy Section.
The event took place in the run-up to the 89th IFLA World Library and Information Congress (IFLA WLIC 2025), which will be held in Astana from August 18 to 22.
The aim of the conference was to promote the development of inclusive digital literacy, unite various communities, exchange international experience, and discuss the effective integration of modern technologies into library practice.
During the event, specialists from different countries, including Central Asian states, exchanged professional experience, presented their developments, delivered presentations and workshops, and participated in networking sessions. Guests were also offered a guided tour of the university and the library.
International experts shared their knowledge and experience with the participants:
Zoltán Sándor Kovács (Hungary) — spoke about digital security and modern solutions applied in public libraries;
Dr. Neza Singh (India) — presented approaches to community development through digital literacy;
Naomi Mwaurah (Kenya) — shared projects aimed at creating an inclusive digital environment;
Dr. Sharon Young (USA) — highlighted effective methods for teaching digital literacy;
Dr. Leyli Seyfi (Iran) — discussed practices for improving digital literacy among farmers in rural areas.
The conference was held at a high level thanks to the professional organization by the IFLA Information Literacy Section. In closing, the Director of the Academic Library, Bakhytzhan Orazaliyev, emphasized the significance of the event, highlighting its contribution to the development of librarianship and the strengthening of international partnerships. He also expressed gratitude to all participants and foreign guests for their active involvement and interest in cooperation.
